Experiment #2:

Ceramic Cladding from Digital Fluids

A collaboration with Del Harrow, ceramic artist, at EKWC in The Netherlands.

>> As selected participants for EKWC’s Ceramics in Architecture residency program, we explored digital fluids as generative forms for the construction of self-supporting units for a curvilinear facade. Forms were generated in Realflow, unfolded in Rhinoceros, then used as forms to lay-up slabs of clay into structural units that were glazed. This project was exhibited at the annual conference for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts in 2009.

Support provided by EKWC and a grant from The Pennsylvania State University, College of Arts and Architecture
